March is Women’s History Month. Everybody should recognize and congratulate leading women, especially the entrepreneurs among us who create business opportunities that benefit everybody.
One important way we can advance the potential of women entrepreneurs is to celebrate them! Here are just a few examples of women leading successful businesses:
Laura J. Alber: The CEO of retailer Williams-Sonoma has led the company for 10 years and was featured in 2014 and 2015 in Fortune’s “Business Person of the Year” lists.
Rosalind G. Brewer: The CEO of Walgreens and currently the only Black female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. She was previously the COO of Starbucks and the former President and CEO of Sam’s Club.
Michele Buck: The first women CEO of the Hershey Company, Ms. Buck has led the food manufacturing company since 2017 and is responsible for the company’s largest acquisition in its history.
Lynn Good: Good is one of the highest-paid women executives in the country. As CEO of Duke Energy, she is leading the company’s effort to produce net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Ursula M. Burns: American businesswoman and member of the board of directors for Uber. Ms. Burns was the chair and CEO of VEON from late 2018 to early 2020, a senior advisor to Teneo, and a non-executive director of Diageo since April 2018.
Abigail Johnson: Included in the Forbes’ most powerful women in the world list, Johnson was named CEO of Fidelity Investments and its international sister company Fidelity International in 2014.
We appreciate the contributions of women leaders, and know that they motivate and inspire others.
